Check out our interview with The Season Premiere!

We recently caught up with Justin, Riley, Travis & Terrence from The Season Premire a band from Tempe, AZ! Check out our interview and make sure you check them out!

1)Please introduce yourselves and what band you are from and where?

Hello! We are Justin, Travis, Riley, & Terrence and we are Alternative rock quartet called The Season Premiere from Phoenix, Arizona.

2) Who is the founder of the band and when was it found?

I guess you could say Justin is the official starter of the band being as to how hes been attached to the name The Season Premiere for a long time now. Justin and Riley have been playing music together for years now under the name The Season Premiere. However, this lineup and the current content we have released online didn’t actually begin until November of 2010. This band is only about 7 months young.

3) When did each of you figure out music is what you wanted to do?

I think we can all agree that once we all entered each other’s lives it really set in and clicked. We’ve all been playing music for years and its always been something we dreamed of doing as a career. But once we met each other and started writing it all became a reality that music as a career was actually feasible. We are extremely happy of how far we’ve come in such a short amount of time and hope to continue this career as long as the world lets us.

4)What would you each be doing if you weren’t making music?

Justin would probably be working at a talent agency, managing bands or singers. Travis would probably still be producing music. Terrence would have not dropped out of the Arizona State Pre Medical department and would most likely be heading to medical school. Riley would most likely be working as a studio/session musician. Its pretty crazy all the opportunities we’ve passed up and sacrificed for this band. At the end of the day, we can all truly say we are completely happy and content though. No regrets, ever.

5)What are each of your musical influences?

We all have various music influences, however, all love every type/genre of music out there. It all contributes to the music we write. Some of our biggest influences in our genre are Third Eye Blind, All American Rejects, Jimmy Eat World, Relient K, and even bands like our friends, Anarbor.

6)What genre of music do you guys play?

Most would consider us a Rock/Alternative band, which we completely embrace and accept. But we also feel our music is extremely 90’s rock influenced. We feel our music is extremely real and organic, we try not to hold anything back in our lyrics and always want to promote living a positive lifestyle that we try and live out every day.

7)When are you guys releasing a full length album?

There are no plans for a full length as of right now. However, our first EP “For All The Lovers” will be released this August with 5 new tracks, as well as the debut of our first music video for our single “Anything But Love”.

8)Who comes up with the concepts of your latest music videos? They are very funky and creative!

We have to credit all our video content and pictures to our bassist,Terrence. The kid is a photo and video genius. He takes all of promo photos for press releases and just about anything we do. He is great at what he does and has yet to let us down, you can definitely expect some extremely inventive and creative lyrics videos throughout the rest of our career.

9)What is your ultimate direction as an up and coming band? Are you seeking fame and fortune?

We are just trying to stay true to ourselves. Write the music we love and hope that our fans and the public can find enjoyment in it, just like we do. We want to be at the top, do things that no one has done before. On top of that, we want to promote to our youthful fan base that being yourself and staying true to your ideals and the things you love is what is truly important. We want to be more than just musicians to our following, we want to be role models.

10)What are your immediate music career goals? (Next 1 to 3 years.)

We would love to be signed to a good label by 2012, begin touring full time shortly after that and have a full length out by August 2012. We wont just stop there, skys the limit for us.

11)What has been your biggest challenge been as a band? Have you guys been able to over come that challenge?

Finances are always the hardest part of being in an unsigned band. Not having proper funding for the things you would like to do. However, due to our loyal and loving online following, we were able to pay for our entire EP “For All The Lovers” strictly off of online sales from past releases. We feel extremely blessed and thankful to all those who helped us make it happen.

12)Will you guys be going on tour soon? You guys should defiantly make it out to New York City! I’d love to catch your performance!

We are doing some one offs this summer in various spots in California. We decided right now we want to push our content as hard as we can and continue to write solid songs, once all that is done and we have tour support we are fully committed to touring as long possible. Until then, we will be home based in Arizona, working our tails off to give you all the best material we can create.

13) Do you guys have any last words?

We just want to say thank you so much for taking the time to compile these questions, its been a pleasure. A BIG BIG thank you to all of our loyal fans and followers, without you none of what we are doing would be possible. We love you all and hope you are excited for our release of “For All The Lovers” out on August 23rd!

Much love, Justin, Riley, Travis & Terrence

Check out this band from Philadelphia!

“Maris Lane is a band hailing the suburbs of Philadelphia. They formed November of 2010 and immediately began working hard on what would become their first release entitled “The Pursuit EP”. The EP quickly generated a buzz around the local metal scene, getting over a thousand plays online. The professional production quality, something you don’t normally hear from a young band, makes this release stand out and reflects the bands determination to make a name for themselves in the music scene. Maris Lane plans on continuing their hard work and progression as musicians, so keep listening”

“New York City born and raised, Alex York grew up to the classic tunes of music legends David Bowie, Queen, The Beatles, and Blondie—all the while soaking up the fresh stylings of his own generation’s pacesetters.” City and Sounds had the opportunity to attend York’s latest event at The Studio-Webster Hall on 6/23/2011. He performed with other great acts such as: Cris Cab, Roderick, & Buckwheat Groats. Alex defiantly put on a show that night rocking his all white vest and pants. With the ratio of more girls to guys, everyone was getting into York’s “hard-hitting pop” music. Alex debuted his newest song” Dance Floor” for the first time in New York City. The crowd enjoyed it and were jamming and getting down and funky. Alex also covered Britney Spear’s song “Womanizer” which was awesome! As a surprise York gave out his new shirts with him looking like an “anime character” to the crowd and free song download cards. Alex York sure knows how to keep the energy going and that is what makes a music artist. York also donates 20% of his merch earnings to Japanese disaster relief which is really nice of him. Finally an artist who thinks of others! You should check him out and some of the photos our photographer Kevin Aranibar took.

Check out our Interview with Otenki and make sure to check them out!

1) Could you please introduce yourself and the role you play in “Otenki”?

I’m Enoma, I play guitar in the band as well as co-manage Otenki.

2)How did you guys come about meeting each other?

Initially I met Fausto through a website where musicians posted ads, he and I went over some song ideas and we clicked. German (our vocalist) is related to Fausto and was brought in to sing, we met Josh joined after our first bass player couldn’t make our first tour and Colton joined the band in 2009 after we finally pulled the trigger on adding keys and programming to our sound.

3)What is the story behind the name “Otenki”? How did it come about?

The name for the band was Fausto’s idea. The term Otenki means weather in Japanese. The cool thing is that its a name that is linked with the idea of change. We all liked the idea of being able to write whatever we wanted and have a name where it was hard to kind of figure out what sound we really had. It allowed us a lot of freedom as we great as musicians.

4)When did you each figure out music is you really wanted to do? What would you be doing if you weren’t making music?

I think collectively we decided to really pursue Otenki as a full time project was when we were selected to play the first Taste of Chaos tour. We won the Battle of the Bands to perfrom in Denver, CO. It was an amazing experience and we all just felt really good about it and felt we could really go for it. If I weren’t making music we’d probably still be involved with the industry in some form or fashion. I personally started working in artist management for our management firm Echoplex Management and it’s great.

5) What type of genre do you guys consider yourself?

I would say that we’re a pop-rock/alternative band.

6)What was it like having your previous album “Making Sense of Static” featured in media outlets such as: Alternative Press Magazine, Purevolume.com, Thedailychorus.com, Rock One and Absolutepunk.net?

It’s been amazing. When we started this band I would have never guessed that we would be featured on all those sites. It’s really humbling to see all these people who enjoy our music. We’ve made some great friends through the sites and they’ve been so supportive of what we’re trying to do.

7)What was it like being on the Vans Warped Tour 2009 for the first time? How did you guys prepare yourselves?

Our very first Warped Tour was in 2005 and we were terrible haha! In 2009 we were a much tighter live band and it just came together much better.

8)With the release of your recent EP “Kinteic”, what was the writing, studio and recording process like? and is there a tour in the works? If so, you guys should defiantly come to New York City!

The writing process for the record was a lot different than any other experience we’ve had before. We spent about 6 months writing and demoing songs at home and sending them to James Paul Wisner. He would give us some notes and we would work on the songs. Then when we got to Florida we did more pre-production work on the songs. This was the most involved we’ve ever been in song writing. James really pushed us to be the best we could be.  We will be touring in the fall and we’re definitely coming to NYC!

9)As an up and coming band from Houston, TX what are your expectations from each other and society? Do you guys have any goals you want to accomplish in the next year or 2?

From each other we just try to push ourselves to be the biggest and best band we can possibly be. As for society, that’s a tough one to answer. We would like to get signed within the next two yearsand on tour with some great bands. That’s about all we can hope for.

10)What has been your biggest challenge been as a band? Have you guys been able to over come that challenge?

Honestly the biggest challenge for unsigned bands is the finances. Everyone would like to think that it’s just passion that helps bands make it. There’s a lot of things that require money to make happen. From recording, to merchandise, to the van and trailers, when you are 100% DIY it can get pricey. We’ve been blessed with great fans who show their support by picking up our records and buying our merch. We’re really blessed.

11) Do you guys have any last words to our readers?

Thank you to all our fans and friends! Thank you to City and Sounds. Our new record “KINETIC” comes out next Tuesday on iTunes! Please show your support. Hit us up on www.facebook.com/otenkirocks and www.twitter.com/otenki  Take care everyone!
